Questions I get asked all the time
Does it really work?
Does it really work?
Yes. It pulls the air out of the bag in 5 seconds and the food stays sealed until you open it. The most visible change: fruit lasts three times longer in the fridge, and frozen protein stops coming out with freezer burn. It's not magic, it's basic food-preservation physics — but the first time you see it in your own kitchen, it does look like a trick.
Are the bags truly reusable?
Are the bags truly reusable?
Yes. They have a one-way valve that holds up to washing in warm, soapy water. I've been using my first batch for over six months and they're still going. When a bag finally wears out, you recycle it. Nothing like those plastic rolls you toss after one use, where every new bag costs money — here you buy once and they stay with you.
How many times can I reuse a bag?
How many times can I reuse a bag?
Depends on what you seal. Dry goods (coffee, granola, spices, bread): the bags can live through 50+ cycles, no problem. Something greasy (marinated meat, cheese): wash them well and they hold up. The simple rule: if the valve still seals, the bag still works.
Does it work for liquids?
Does it work for liquids?
Yes, with one trick: freeze the liquid first in a flat mold, then seal it. If you try to seal it while liquid, the device pulls the liquid up along with the air and dirties the valve. This isn't unique to Avine — every vacuum sealer works this way.
Is it loud?
Is it loud?
A little, but less than a blender. It runs about 5 seconds per bag and goes quiet. It won't wake anyone up, and you can't hear it from the living room. The closest thing is a small handheld vacuum, on for an instant.
How long does the battery last?
How long does the battery last?
A full charge seals between 60 and 80 bags, depending on size. I charge mine once every two weeks because I meal prep on Sundays. It charges via USB-C, so any modern phone cable works.
Do I need to plug it into the wall?
Do I need to plug it into the wall?
No. It's cordless. You charge it with USB-C and then use it wherever you want — on the counter, inside the fridge, standing next to the freezer. That's why it fits in a normal drawer with no tangled cord.
Does it work with Ziploc or other brands' bags?
Does it work with Ziploc or other brands' bags?
No. Ziploc bags don't have the one-way valve that lets the device pull the air out without letting it back in. If you want to get the most out of the sealer, Avine bags are the piece that completes the system. That's why they come included in the kit, and why they're reusable.
Do you ship to the United States?
Do you ship to the United States?
Yes. We ship to the United States. Delivery times vary by location, but every shipment is protected — if your package doesn't arrive, you don't lose your money. You get a tracking number as soon as it ships.
What if it doesn't work for me?
What if it doesn't work for me?
You have 60 days to return it. No weird questions, no long forms. You write to me, I send you the instructions, and I refund your money when the package arrives back. The reason is simple: if I paid for something and it didn't win me over, I'd expect to be able to return it too.
Why Avine and not another sealer?
Why Avine and not another sealer?
Three things. It's genuinely portable — fits in a drawer, no cord. The bags aren't a consumable in disguise; they're part of the system and get reused. And behind the device there's someone (me) who actually answers if something goes wrong. Buy a generic marketplace sealer and when it dies, you're on your own with an anonymous seller's warranty. Not with me.
